About Briefs

Knowledge, addressed like code.

Briefs is a platform for living markdown documents, hosted at stable URLs and authored for AI agents to read. Think of it as GitHub for the knowledge your team and their AI tools depend on.

Why we built it

Every answer was buried in a document nobody could reach.

Teams have never had more knowledge, or a harder time getting to it. The truth about a design system, an API, or a fundraise sits in a PDF, a wiki page, or someone’s inbox, and by the time an AI agent needs it, it’s stale or out of reach.

We started Briefs because the fix felt obvious: put knowledge at a URL, keep it in plain markdown, and let any AI client fetch exactly the part it needs. Author once, share a link, and every future read gets the current version.

What we believe

The principles behind every Brief.

A URL is the interface

Knowledge should live at a stable address, not in an attachment or a chat history. Share the link and anyone’s AI can reach the current version.

The latest version, always

Edit a Brief in place and the next fetch returns the update. No re-exporting, no re-sending, no “v2_final_FINAL.pdf.”

Written for machines and people

A Brief is plain markdown an agent can parse and a person can read. No proprietary format, no lock-in.

Open by default, private when it matters

Share openly with a link, gate it behind OAuth and scoped tokens, or keep it inside your organization.

Who we are

Built by engineers who’ve shipped at scale.

We’re a small team that has built and operated software for teams at some of the largest companies in the world. Briefs is the tool we wished we’d had.
